...but it seems to be affecting only users of Demon ISDN and there are
some knowledgable people on this group who might be able to help.

We are having trouble using eBay and trace routes from two of us stop at
the same place.

I know nothing of this stuff so some help would be appreciated.

Here's a typical trace:

I get the same problem. Trying via an alternative ISP also fails so I guess
the eBay site is down at the moment.

Interesting. Is that also on ISDN?

EBay is still accessible.. It's using features inside the site (e.g. 'My
eBay' and viewing individual items) that is the problem.

If the problem were widespread there would be a great noise on eBay
newsgroups but they have been quiet save for those of us (apparently)
using Demon ISDN.

It was via NTL. However, further tests this evening show the traceroute
still dies at the same places (from Demon it stops at a Sprintlink router,
from NTL it stops at a Level3 router, both apparently in San Jose.) I'd say
in both cases it's a feature of the backbone network or the Ebay border
router (which may be next in line in both cases) causing the traceroute
failure.

I can connect from either of those, plus a shell account at the Linx quite
happily now.

Hi Tom

I have the same problem as you.

However a friend of mine connecting using ADSL has no problem at all, so the
problem is not with ebay.

That fits the pattern. It seems to be affecting only Demon ISDN users.
Demon ADSL seems OK.

Weird, ain't it?

All the best,

Hi Tom

Spoke to the technical desk this morning.

All they could say was that there was an engineers ticket issued on the
problem.

No ETA was forthcoming.

Lets hope they get it fixed soon

I emailed a traceroute to ***@demon.net but I'm not sure if that's
the right place to send it.

Do you know if there is a more appropriate place to send it?

Thats as good as any I can see.

I can now see ebays home page but nothing else. At least it looks like
